Our Roots
The Houck family has served the oil and gas industry here in Oklahoma for nearly 60 years, performing quality inspections on oilfield tubular materials and equipment.
Star Pipe Service was founded in April of 1985 by Glenn Houck. Glenn was formerly employed by his dad at J.C. Houck Oilfield Service, Inc. J.C. Houck began in the inspection business in 1959. J.C. started out inspecting drill collars, then later expanded into casing, tubing, and drill pipe inspection.
Glenn, as a teenager, helped his dad during the summers and on weekends while in school. Not only did he help in the field with drill collars, drifting and cleaning pipe, and sandblasting; he also helped with maintenance of vehicles and equipment. By the time he graduated from high school, he had learned how to blacklight connections on drill collars.
After high school, Glenn worked with his dad 11 years. Glenn inspected drill collars, drill pipe, and operated casing and tubing units. He trained inspectors in all three inspection processes, was the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), helped with field sales and became the vice president while working for his dad. Star Pipe Service began after the closing of J.C. Houck Oilfield Service in 1985.
Star Pipe Service has continued to give quality service through the years, enduring the ups and downs of the oil and gas industry . All along, J.C. worked in support of Glenn, to the benefit of Star Pipe Service's future until his passing in 2008. Today, Star Pipe Service enjoys a reputation of high quality and integrity.
Beginning July 2013, Bobby Houck (third generation) became the General Manager of Star Pipe Service.
